What Is the Pure Gospel?
13:36

By Prophet of Grace PAULYB

One of the biggest problems in Christianity today is that many people have heard a gospel about God without truly hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many people were taught a message built on fear, separation, performance, and trying to earn what Jesus already freely gave. But the pure gospel is much simpler and much more beautiful than religion made it.

The gospel is Jesus. The gospel is the good news of what became true in Jesus Christ and what became true of humanity in Him. Jesus came to reveal the Father. Jesus came to reveal what God is really like. Jesus came to destroy the lie of separation. Jesus came to bring humanity into union with the Father through the Holy Spirit.

John 14:6 says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus did not say He would simply show us a way. He said He IS the way. He did not say He would merely teach truth. He said He IS the truth.

He did not say He would hand out life from a distance. He said He IS the life. The gospel begins and ends with Jesus Himself.

The Gospel Is Jesus With Us

One of the greatest revelations you must understand is this: The gospel is Jesus with us. Many believers still judge situations as if Jesus is absent. They look at lack and assume God abandoned them. They look at weakness and assume God stepped away. They look at pain and think God became silent.

But Jesus never taught us to evaluate life as if He were missing from the situation. In John chapter 6, when the crowds needed food, the disciples only saw lack and impossibility. But Jesus was standing right there in the middle of the problem. The miracle was not only about multiplying bread. The miracle was revealing that God’s answer was already present because Jesus was there.

This is the gospel. The Christian life is learning to stop judging situations as if Jesus is absent. Matthew 28:20 says: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

He is present. He is near. He is not distant. And through the Holy Spirit, He now lives in us.

Jesus Came to Reveal the Father

Jesus did not come to reveal an angry God. Jesus came to reveal the Father. John 14:9 says: “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” This changes everything. If Jesus healed people, then the Father is good. If Jesus forgave sinners, then the Father is merciful.

If Jesus welcomed broken people, then the Father is compassionate. If Jesus touched lepers, then the Father is not afraid of human weakness. Hebrews 1:3 says Jesus is: “The express image of His person.” Jesus perfectly reveals the Father’s heart. The cross was not Jesus convincing the Father to love humanity. The cross was the revelation of the love the Father already had for humanity.

John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” The Father loved first. Jesus came because the Father already loved us.

Religion Built a Gospel of Separation

Many people grew up hearing a gospel built on separation. The message sounded something like this: “God is over there. You are over here. Now spend your life trying to get close enough.” But Jesus revealed something completely different. John 14:20 says: “At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”

This is one of the clearest revelations of the gospel in the entire Bible. Jesus is in the Father. We are in Jesus. Jesus is in us. This is union. Now listen carefully. Union does not mean humanity becomes God.

Union means humanity is included in relationship with the Father through Christ. The gospel is not humanity climbing upward to God. The gospel is God coming downward into humanity through Jesus Christ. John 1:14 says: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus entered humanity fully.

He entered our darkness. He entered our broken thinking. He entered our pain. He entered our confusion. He entered our alienation. And He brought the Father’s life into the middle of it.

Colossians 1:27 says: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” The hope of glory is not Christ far away from you. The hope of glory is Christ IN you.

The Gospel Is Participation, Not Performance

Religion teaches people to perform for God. Jesus teaches us to participate with God. Jesus never lived independently from the Father. John 5:19 says: “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do.” Everything Jesus did flowed from relationship. Everything flowed from communion.

Everything flowed from union with the Father through the Holy Spirit. Now Jesus invites us into that same life. John 17:26 says: “I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” Think about that.

Jesus wants the very love the Father has for Him to be alive inside of us. That is not religion. That is communion. That is participation in divine life. Romans 8:15 says: “You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

The Holy Spirit awakens us to sonship. Christianity is not trying to become accepted. Christianity is learning to live from acceptance.

Jesus Received the Father’s Pleasure Before Ministry

One of the most powerful truths you must understand is this: Jesus received the Father’s affirmation before public ministry. Before miracles. Before healing the sick. Before raising the dead. Before preaching publicly. The Father spoke over Jesus at His baptism: Matthew 3:17 says: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

The Father’s pleasure came before performance. This destroys performance-based Christianity. Jesus ministered FROM acceptance, not FOR acceptance. Most believers spend their entire lives trying to earn what Jesus already freely lived from.

But Ephesians 1:6 says: “He made us accepted in the Beloved.” You are accepted in Christ. The Christian life begins there.

Repentance Means Learning to See Correctly

Many people think repentance only means feeling guilty. But biblical repentance is much deeper than guilt. Repentance means a transformation in how we see. Romans 12:2 says: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Jesus came to heal the way we see the Father. Religion gave many people a false picture of God.

Jesus came to reveal the truth. John 8:32 says: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Truth is not merely information. Truth is Jesus Himself. Repentance happens when we stop agreeing with fear, shame, separation, and religious lies and begin agreeing with Jesus.

The Trinity Is the Foundation of the Gospel

The gospel only makes sense through relationship. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 1 John 4:8 says: “God is love.” Love is not just something God does. Love is who God is.

The Father loves the Son. The Son loves the Father. The Holy Spirit shares and reveals this love. Before creation, there was already communion and relationship.

This matters because humanity was created from love and for participation in love. Ephesians 1:4 says: “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.” Before you were born… Before you sinned… Before you failed… The Father’s heart was already turned toward humanity in Christ. God has always been for us.

Jesus Entered Human Darkness

Jesus did not remain distant from human pain. Hebrews 2:14 says: “He Himself likewise shared in the same.” Jesus entered our humanity completely.

He entered suffering. He entered temptation. He entered pain. He entered rejection. He entered alienation.

In Gethsemane, Jesus faced the full weight of human fear and darkness. Luke 22:42 says: “Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Where Adam distrusted God, Jesus trusted the Father completely. Jesus entered humanity’s “no” and answered with faithful sonship. Romans 5:19 says: “By one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” Jesus restored humanity from inside humanity itself.

What Christian Mysticism Really Means

Now this is important because many believers become nervous when they hear the word “mystic.” Most people only know mysticism through a Westernized New Age lens. They think of crystals, occult practices, spiritual energy, or trying to access spiritual power outside of Jesus Christ. But true Christian mysticism is not New Age spirituality. True Christian mysticism is communion with God through Christ.

The early church fathers were deeply spiritual people. They did not merely study information about God. They experienced communion with God through the Holy Spirit. 1 John 1:3 says: “Truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” The word fellowship means communion, participation, and sharing.

The early believers understood Christianity as participation in the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. That is not occultism. That is biblical Christianity. Christianity is supernatural. The Christian life is not merely intellectual agreement. The Christian life is Christ in us.

John 17:3 says: “This is eternal life, that they may know You.” Biblical knowing is relational knowing. It is communion. It is participation. It is relationship.

The Full Gospel Includes Signs, Wonders, and Miracles

The gospel is not only words. The gospel is power. Paul said in Romans 15:18-19: “In mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God… I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” Notice Paul connects the FULL preaching of the gospel with signs, wonders, and miracles. Why? Because Jesus did not merely announce the kingdom.

Jesus demonstrated the kingdom. Matthew 4:23 says: “Teaching… preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness.” The gospel reveals the goodness of the Father through supernatural demonstration. Healings reveal the Father’s goodness. Deliverance reveals the Father’s freedom. Prophecy reveals the Father’s voice.

Miracles reveal the Father’s kingdom. Mark 16:20 says: “The Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.” Miracles are not entertainment. Miracles reveal Jesus. The church was never meant to preach powerless information. The church was meant to reveal Christ alive through the Holy Spirit.

We Live From Union, Not Toward It

One of the most important truths in this discipleship class is this: We do not live toward union with God. We live FROM union with God. Religion says: “Try harder to get close to God.” Jesus says: “I am in you.” Religion says: “Earn acceptance.” Jesus says: “You are accepted in the Beloved.”

Religion says: “Work your way into intimacy.” Jesus says: “Abide in Me.” John 15:4 says: “Abide in Me, and I in you.” The Christian life is learning to become aware of the Christ already living within us.

Final Thoughts

The pure gospel is Jesus. The gospel is the Father revealed through Christ. The gospel is union. The gospel is participation in divine life. The gospel is Christ in you.

The gospel is not fear. The gospel is not separation. The gospel is not performance. The gospel is not trying to earn what Jesus already freely gave. The gospel is the announcement that God has come near in Christ and brought humanity into relationship.

And when this gospel is truly preached, it produces freedom, healing, joy, restoration, transformation, signs, wonders, miracles, communion, and love. Because the gospel is not merely information. The gospel is Jesus Himself.

Prayer

Father, thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You are good. Thank You that You are not distant. Thank You that You brought us into union through Christ. Holy Spirit, renew our minds. Remove every false image of God from us.

Teach us to live from Christ in us instead of striving through religion. Awaken us to sonship. Awaken us to communion. Awaken us to the supernatural life of the kingdom. Let our lives reveal Jesus through love, healing, freedom, signs, wonders, miracles, and truth.
