A lot of people think the gospel is mainly about escaping hell or getting God to finally accept you. But Paul preached something much bigger than that. Paul did not preach a Jesus standing outside humanity offering people a religious deal. He preached the eternal Son of God who stepped into our humanity to heal it from the inside. Jesus entered our brokenness. He entered our pain. He entered our death. He entered the human condition fully. And in doing that, He brought humanity into a brand new beginning. That is why the incarnation matters so much.

Jesus Truly Became Human

John says very clearly, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” God did not stay far away from humanity. He came near. He became one of us. Hebrews 2:14 says, “Since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same.” And verse 17 says, “He had to be made like His brothers in every respect.” Jesus did not pretend to be human. He truly entered our humanity. This is why 1 John says denying Jesus came in the flesh is the spirit of antichrist. Because the incarnation is not some small side teaching. It is at the center of the gospel.

Paul’s Revelation Was Christ in Humanity

Paul says in Galatians 1:15–16, “God was pleased to reveal His Son in me.” Paul did not say God gave him a new religion. He said God revealed His Son in him. That is union language. Paul saw something bigger than religion. He saw that Christ entered humanity and included humanity in Himself.

God Acted First

A lot of religion says, “Do enough to get close to God.” But Paul’s gospel starts with what God already did in Jesus Christ. God acted first — before human effort, before performance, before striving. The gospel is not, “Do these things so you can get into Christ.” The gospel is, “God brought humanity into Christ, and now the Holy Spirit is waking people up to what is already true in Him.”

Jesus Healed Humanity From the Inside

Romans 8:3 says God sent His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and condemned sin in the flesh. Notice where sin was condemned. In the flesh. Jesus entered the human condition and dealt with sin from inside humanity itself. That is why Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:14, “One died for all, therefore all died.” And in Romans 6:6, “Our old self was crucified with Him.” Jesus did not just die beside humanity. Humanity died in Him.

The Last Adam

Paul calls Jesus the Last Adam. Adam carried humanity into death. Christ carried humanity through death into resurrection life. 1 Corinthians 15:45 says, “The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.” Jesus rose as the beginning of a new humanity. That is why Ephesians 2:5–6 says, “God made us alive together with Christ… raised us up with Him and seated us with Him.” Paul keeps using “together with” language because he saw humanity included in Christ.

The Gospel Is Bigger Than Religion

Paul’s gospel was not mainly, “Jesus got punished so God could forgive you.” Paul’s gospel was that the eternal Son entered humanity, destroyed death, crucified the old Adamic man, rose as the Last Adam, and brought forth new creation life in Himself. And now the Holy Spirit is opening people’s eyes to see it and participate in it.

The “Other Gospel”

The “other gospel” Paul warned about was not the message of Jesus healing humanity from the inside. The “other gospel” was every message that pushed people back into fear, law, self-effort, religious performance, and separation from God. Paul fought against every system that made people trust in themselves instead of Christ. Because Paul saw the truth: God was not far away trying to avoid humanity. God stepped into humanity in Jesus Christ to heal it, restore it, and bring it into new creation life from the inside out.
